Brittany Ferries and Condor Ferries have expressed their dissatisfaction and confusion over the Jersey government's recent announcement of its intention to launch a new tender for ferry services.

Jersey has also requested a short term extension of the current operating agreement with Condor.

Christophe Mathieu, CEO of both companies, spoke about the significant investment of resources by Brittany Ferries over the past nine months into the tender process, providing comprehensive information aimed at assisting the Jersey government in making an informed decision.

Mathieu's statement emphasised their belief in the sufficiency of the information provided for concluding the existing process.

Despite their extensive involvement in the process, Brittany Ferries has yet to receive any formal communication from Jersey’s government regarding the announced developments.

The company is actively seeking clarification on the request for an extension and is also inquiring about specific details related to the new Jersey-only tender.

To address their concerns and seek immediate answers, Brittany Ferries has reached out to both the Government of Jersey and Guernsey requesting further clarification on crucial aspects of the current tender process.

The process to decide which ferry operator should run the Channel Island routes began more than nine months ago.

With pressure from industry building, Guernsey broke ranks and announced Brittany Ferries as its choice while Jersey has failed to reach a conclusion as it also ways up the option of using DFDS.

Brittany is the majority shareholder in current operator Condor.
